Piercing Names
Piercing of the Ear::
Anti-tragus - a piercing through a prominence on the lower posterior portion of the conch of the external ear, opposite the tragus.
Conch - piercings that go through the main "shell" of the ear - the barbell exits out the back of your ear.
Daith - inner ear cartilage piercing.Ear - any piercing of the ear tissue or cartilage.
Helix - outer ear cartilage ridge piercing. Also known as outer conch.
Rook - ear piercing through a cartilage fold above the conch.
Tragus - The tragus is the small tab of tissue which projects over the opening of the ear canal. It is usually placed in the natural fold where the tragus attaches to the side of the face.
Lobe, pierced - piercing through the soft tissue of the lobe. One of the most common piercings.
Lobe, stretched - process by which ear tissue holes are slowly stretched with tapers.
Snug - piercing through a ridge of cartilage just on the outside of the conch, passes through the vertical ridge that "outlines" but does not edge the ear (more inner than helix).
Facial Piercings::
Chin - a surface piercing on the chin. In slang terms a labret is also known as a chin piercing.
Eyebrow - surface piercing of the face, usually placing a small ring or bar through the ridge of the eyebrow.
Horizontal eyebrow - piercing placed horizontally through the tissue of the eyebrow.
Anti-eyebrow - a diagonal or horizontal surface piercing placed parallel to a vertical eyebrow.
Sideburn - vertical surface piercing on the side of the face. Also known as vertical tragus, the most common placing being right next to the tragus.
Eyelid - piercing through the eyelid.
Implant, eyeball - a small piece of jewelry is placed in the membrane of the eye.
Labret - a piercing inside the oral cavity [mouth] that exits just below the lip line, and as low as 8mm below the lip line.
Snakebites - a slang term for two off centre labrets.
Vertical labret - a surface piercing that is pierced vertically through the lip tissue.
Angelbites - a slang term for two off centre vertical labrets.
Lowbret - piercing about 1 cm below the lipline to as low as they can be placed.
Madonna - a piercing placed on the right side of the upper lip.
Monroe - a piercing placed on the left side of the upper lip.
Medusa - a piercing placed in the centre of the upper lip.
Jestrum - a piercing placed vertically through the centre of the upper lip.
Nostril - piercing through the soft cartilage of the nostril.
Septum - a piercing through the soft tissue or cartilage that separates the chambers of the nose.
Bridge - a piercing placed through the nasal bridge between your eyes.
Vertical bridge - a piercing placed vertically on your nasal bridge. Also called the "third eye" piercing.
Austin bar - a horizontal nasal tip piercing that does not enter the nasal cavity.
Madison - surface piercing through tissue of the front neck, right above the chest.
Vampire's Kiss - a slang term for a surface piercing placed on the side of the neck.
Nape - piercing through the nape of the neck.
Nasallang - three nasal piercings: two nostrils and one septum that are connected by one bar so that it goes through the whole nose.
Nasal tip - travels from inside the nostril and out to the center of the tip of the nose.
Cheek - a piercing placed through the cheek exiting into the mouth.
Ashley - a piercing placed horizontall through the lip so one ball sits on the outside and one on the inside.
Nick - goes through one of the highest points on the inside of the mouth and travels upwards and exits underneath the orbit of the eye.
Horizontal philtrum - a piercing placed horizontally through the "dip" in the upper lip. A surface piercing.
Inside the Mouth::
Tongue - a vertical piercing placed in the centre of the tongue through the striations in the tongue muscle.
Horizontal tongue - a piercing placed horizontally through the tongue muscle.
Uvula - through the small piece of tissue hanging in the start of the throat.
Venoms - two off centre tongue piercings placed through the muscle.
Mandible/sprung - a deep oral piercing that starts below the tongue, goes straight down and exits under the chin
Lower Lip Frenulum - a piercing placed through the central webbing of the lower lip. Also known as a frowny.
Upper Lip Frenulum - a piercing placed through the central webbing of the upper lip. Also known as a smiley.
Vertical lowbret - starts inside the mouth between the lower lip and the teeth, then travels straight down and exits on the lower edge of the jawline.
Tongue web (tongue frenulum) - piercing through the tissue that connects the tongue with the bottom of your mouth.
Trunk Piercings (Below the neck):
Navel - piercing through the ridge of skin on the top of the belly button.
Inverse navel - piercing through the ridge of skin below the belly button.
Nipple - piercing of the areola of the breast, most often horizontal but it can also be vertical or diagonal.
Clavicle - surface piercings placed through the skin above, over or below the clavicle [collarbone].
Sternum - a surface piercing, placed between the breasts. Also known as the 'cleavage piercing'.
